A free online scratch competition for everyone

The Challenge: Using the Scratch platform, create a game, animation, presentation, or story about COVID-19.

Here are a few ideas:

  • Tell a story

  • Thank the heroes who are helping us fight COVID-19

  • Make a game to teach people how to be safe in the pandemic

By Aug 15th. Please register your name, scratch id and email by Aug 15, so we can contact with you.

By Aug 29th, Please fill out this submission form and add your project to https://scratch.mit.edu/studios/26744170/. Only one entry per Scratch account.

By Aug 31st, CodeNova will announce the finalist and instructions for your final project presentation. Please make sure you fill out the submission form.

Sept 5th, 7 PM - 9 PM. Final presentation. (Everyone is invited. We will vote on the projects live.). Winner and prizes will be announced live.

The Competition Rules:

  1. The competition is free to join.

  2. You must submit the project on time and add your project to https://scratch.mit.edu/studios/26744170

  3. There will be 2 competition groups: Grades K-3 and Grades 4+. Your group will be based upon your the grade you are in at school at the beginning of 2020.

  4. Your total score will be the sum of the scores from the people's choice vote and the judges' choice vote. We will vote live in the Zoom meeting. Voting link will be shared during the zoom meeting.

  5. The project must be created by you, and cannot be a remix of other people's projects. You have to clearly give credit for any images or sounds borrowed from others. No code or algorithms may be borrowed from others.

  6. Only one project per Scratch account.

  7. Top projects win cash prizes offered by CodeNova.org.

Submission deadline: Aug 29, 2020. 11:59pm US Eastern Time (ET).
